Part 1: The Documentary
The immediate purpose of this profile-style documentary is to preserve verbatim the words of Kim Pham, and those surviving witnesses who significantly shaped her narrative. Its secondary design is to serve as a forerunner, and ideally fundraising piece, for our project's final stage: the TV show "Daughter Dragon".

DBA Daughter Dragon Productions (DDP) is a Massachusetts-based independent motion picture production and distribution company founded in July, 2021 expressly to facilitate this two-part project. DDP is almost entirely donation-funded and volunteer-run.
WHAT WE ARE
WHO WE ARE
We are for the most part a coalition of undergraduate college students attending both Boston University and Columbia University, based in Boston Massachusetts, and New York City, New York, respectively. Our team is led by women and made up primarily of students with East Asian backgrounds
WHY WE ARE
DDP exists because of a shared, vested interest in publicizing Kim Pham's miraculous and highly relevant narrative through the universal language of visual media, and with Kim's direct input. We feel that this two-part project has the potential to significantly impact how the Vietnamese diaspora is imagined both at home and abroad.
OUR CREATIVE TEAM
SOPHIE ARNSTEIN
Sophie has been conducting research for this project, Daughter Dragon, since the summer of 2021. In 2022, she established Daughter Dragon Productions and secured a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship with the non-profit Cambridge Community Center for the Arts. This spring, 2023, Sophie independently journeyed to Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines, where she conducted primary source interviews and visited two of the refugee camps where Kim Pham once found sanctuary.

I also bring personal touch of personal authenticity to my video work with fluency in programs such as AVID Media Composer and Abode Premiere.
THE DRAGON STORY
The name Daughter Dragon Productions derives from the affinity between Sophie Arnstein, our founder, and Kim Pham, the principal subject of our first, ongoing campaign; both women were born in the year of the dragon—2000 and 1952, respectively—and after Kim remarked that the pair were akin to “mother dragon and daughter dragon,” no other title felt quite as right.
We Need YOUR Help!
Our current budget disallows us from pursuing our projects to their fullest cinematic potential. For example, our inability to travel directly inhibits the overall caliber of our documentary, as it significantly limits the range and quality of the interviews that we can conduct and incorporate.
Your financial sponsorship will have an immediate impact on Daughter Dragon Productions; whether you gift us $10 or $10,000, your donation will significantly enhance our capacity to authentically and thoroughly tell Kim Pham's story.
